Floors with large gaps or uneven spots should be removed before you install vinyl floor planks because they will jeopardize the integrity of the floor. Carpet is another type of flooring that can be successfully installed over ceramic tile. The other is to cover it with a different type of flooring. This isn t to say you can install laminate over every tile floor.

Also the tack strip holes will all have to be drilled because the ceramic will shatter if you try to nail directly into it.
